ok still on snow hiatus! two kids later lol, and no money!!! it's what happens. i am really missing the cold weather and buckets of snow though. i can't wait to hopefully get on the snow at least once this season?? we'll see? i am planning on heading north in february back to my hometown newport, nh. i will be there for their winter carnival which is supposedly the longest running one in the country. it's a quaint little town with lots of unique character/s. i will write a review after the trip. i did however find a great place to stay and really hope i am able to work it out. it's a fully restored 1855 farm house. find  it at www.northstarhouse.com beautifully done, and perfect for my needs. the town of newport puts on the winter carnival every year it includes a queen pagent, snow related activites such as ski joring, broom hockey and open skating on the natural rink in the center of town on the common, there is a warming hut for patrons and hot chocolate as well. it doesn't get much more hometown than this, it is something i truly look forward to doing once a year and really do miss having it available all winter :( i hope to take out my 3 year old this year to experience it for himself!! can't wait.

more snow!

well it snowed again a few days ago, and i tried to take the baby out in it! he wasn't really having a whole lot of fun but he didn't seem to hate it! i didn't really get to enjoy it as much as i would have wanted to of course.  i would have liked to go out yesterday for some fun but we had a few dr.'s appointments so i was busy all day running around.  maybe today? i can't wait until we go up to new hampshire again and go out in the snow there, maybe i'll even get some riding in? who knows? for know i am relegated to watching whatever i can on tv and dreaming about being on the slopes again someday soon i hope.

until there's more snow to talk about!

snow day!

well...i wish it were for me! it's snowing outside today though, that doesn't mean i'll get to see any of it on a mt.?? i did get out to shovel a bit already that feels good enough for now! maybe this weekend, or next week sometime i can make a quick trip to the local mt. for a few runs! here's to hoping!

i just love to see all the white powder falling down, everything is now covered and it's huge flakes, i think it's a little damp though, but still just wonderful!

hope anyone reading this will get out in the snow and enjoy it while it's here!

first post!

i am a snowboarder, who has had to take some extended leave from the sport due to my decision to start a family. i learned to ride in 2003 with my now husband in hopes that it would bring us closer together as a couple, and it did! i fell in love with the sport after day 4 or 5 before that it was pure hell! since then we have travelled all over the u.s. and rode mostly in the east but have made a few trips to ride in utah, which is amazing if you've never been, go! 

i am really missing riding lately, thus the creation of this blog. i keep dreaming about going again and wondering if i will still be able to after having a child, or if things have changed with my body so much that i would have forgotten how to? is it more like riding a bike?? i'm just not sure. well the weather here in jersey isn't really optimal for riding anywhere near us, and me being a stay at home mom doesn't afford us the luxury of going to vt, or utah whenever we want anymore, so i really miss it, as does my husband i'm sure. 

i do follow alot of the major competitions and would love for my husband to be able to compete someday? who knows it could happen?? i'm excited for the xgames to start, and am not sure when the dew tour will air but i will be checking that out shortly!

january is learn to ski/ride month so if you've always wanted to learn now is the time to get up and get out and do it! remember me sitting inside because i can't afford to go and enjoy it to the fullest!
